Fraudulent Email
Beginning April 23, 2008, certain ADP clients and other parties began receiving fraudulent e-mails that appear to be sent from ADP. They were not.
If you receive one of these e-mails DELETE IT IMMEDIATELY AND DO NOT RESPOND TO, OPEN OR FORWARD IT. The e-mails and their attachments are malicious and could harm your computer. We believe they are attempting to compromise your data.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
Here is what you should be on the lookout for:
- There are two known versions of the email so far and the emails may contain an infected file attachment named batch.doc. Your anti-virus software may block the attachment or may render it harmless, replacing it with a warning attachment.
One version looks like this:

Subject: re:payroll – [COMPANY NAME]

Your payroll has been rejected because the data at the bottom of the batch is invalid.
The debit account for [COMPANY NAME] is also invalid.
Please check it and re-send me the correct batch.
Please correct the errors and reply me ASAP.
With respect,
Steve Irwin
